Summer Update

Hello Neighbors!

Summer is upon us, and we would like to send out a message to everyone as we have a few updates to share.

1. Please enjoy the pool and parks! We will be hosting our Movie Night in Orchard Park on August 20th. The party will be combined with daytime events at the CCV pool, so plan on an all day adventure at the pool and park. Please visit the website and vote on the movie selection before August 1st.

2. As usual, summertime mischief leads to an increase in night time crime. Please be sure to lock your car doors at night and keep a light on outside to deter break-ins.

3. The CCV Parks and Recreation Board has been working hard on trail system improvement grants for connecting Peakview Park to Windamere Park. Construction is likely to begin this year, we'll keep everyone informed as CCV budgets are solidified and contracts are let.

4. Our web service has released a new feature that will allow you to "subscribe" to email notifications when we update the site, instead of having to send mass email's like this one. This will give you the power to subscribe/unsubscribe to our updates and make it easier and more secure for us to communicate with one another. Since you are receiving this email, you have essentially "subscribed" to our updates, so we have included you on the new service. Please expect to receive a confirming email from the service. Please reply to confirm your subscription if you wish to continue to receive updates from us. Alternatively, you can subscribe at any time on the website.

5. Our next board meeting is on 7/20 at 7pm at the office building south of 7-11 at Peakview and Dayton. Please attend if you like.

6. We will be switching our annual dues drive to coincide with the calendar year. So this year, you will receive our dues reminder in August (as usual) and, going forward, it will come in January in order to avoid confusion.

Thanks! Again, please expect a confirming email from our subscription service and subscribe to continue receiving updates from us going forward.

MISSING DOGS!

Yesterday's storm scared 2 dogs out of their backyard. One is a white Great Pyrenees named Boss and the other is a silver Labrador named Boomer. Both are very sweet dogs. The Owner's have been looking diligently for them but have not had any luck. The dogs aren't wearing their tags so if they are found, the Owner's info isn't attached to them. Please contact the HOA or the Owner's (listed below) if you have any suggestions or hear anything.

Pancake Breakfast!!!

It's spring again and we are all a little more motivated to spend some time outdoors. In an effort to help neighbors get reacquainted, hopefully meet some new neighbors, and welcome new residents, your HOA will be hosting our Annual CCVSHOA Pancake Breakfast. Anyone interested in volunteering to help should contact Stacey Hilzer ( staceyhilzer@comcast.net ). In order to utilize our park to the fullest, look for the event to be held on the field and at the gazebo on the east end of the park instead of in the parking lot. Also note the event on the calendar. Thanks!

Join us at Peakview Park from 8:00am to 10:30am on Saturday June 4th.

This is a great time to pay your dues so remember to bring your checkbook!

FAA to Host Meetings on Improved Aircraft Navigation System That Could Reduce Aircraft Noise from Centennial Airport

March 8, 2011 from 5 pm- 8 pm
Denver Marriott South, The Littleton Room
10345 Park Meadow Drive, Littleton

The Centennial Airport Community Noise Roundtable (CACNR), made up of representatives from 10 cities and counties (Arapahoe and Douglas,) is working on recommendations to the Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority on ways to help reduce noise from aircraft at Centennial Airport.

“It has been difficult work to learn the many components which impact the operation of Centennial Airport and the CACNR has made great progress during its short existence,” said Brad Pierce, Aurora City Councilmember and Treasurer of the CACNR.

One issue, which the CACNR has been studying, is Area Navigation (RNAV). RNAV is a method of Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) navigation that allows an aircraft to choose any course within a network of satellites, rather than navigating directly to and from ground-based beacons. This can conserve flight distance, reduce congestion, reduce aircraft noise, and allow flights into airports without beacons.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is in the process of determining RNAV routes for Denver International Airport. Along with Denver International Airport, the FAA is reviewing the entire area including the satellite airports of Centennial and Rocky Mountain Metro Airports.

“One benefit we do know from RNAV is that Centennial Airport planes will fly higher than DIA planes creating less noise than they currently do now,” expressed Karen Blilie, Chair of the CACNR. Currently, Centennial traffic flies under DIA traffic keeping the aircraft lower and nosier over residential neighborhoods.

The FAA will host three public scoping meetings to inform the community about the environmental process for reviewing the potential environmental impacts implementing RNAV procedures and to receive public comment on the environmental review process. A future meeting, after development of the Draft Environmental Assessment, will disclose the potential environmental impacts (if any) of implementing the procedures being developed by the FAA. Scoping comments may be submitted through April 10, 2011. In addition to the meeting for Centennial Airport, the CACNR encourages anyone interested to attend any or all three of the meetings:

Rocky Mountain Metro Airport
March 9, 2011 from 5 pm-8 pm
Airport Terminal, Mount Evans Room
11755 Airport Way, Broomfield

Denver International Airport
March 10, 2011 from 5 pm-8 pm
International Airport Crowned Plaza Hotel
15500 E. 40th Avenue, Denver

The CACNR is currently developing a website designed by Keith Gardner, City of Centennial Councilmember, to keep Centennial Airport area residents informed of the CACNR’s work. As of now, information about the CACNR can be found at http://www.centennialairport.com/.
